5AM callout probable HAPE situation at Iceberg Lake. Pt had been sick for 3 days and at 3AM started getting worse, coughing and had fluid in lungs. 5 member rescue team set up for a helo mission 1 member hiked up to make sure they were not already heading down the trail as we could not get any further contact. @ 9AM found party at Boy Scout Lake bringing Pt down. Had Pt rest while full assessment was done and O2 administered. No good LZ’s and Pt responded very well to treatment, canceled helo and walked Pt out where they refused further care and drove themselves to the hospital. Party spoke very little English but there was an interpreter that was very helpful.
